Covenant UMC Parking Lot
Feel free to share the Facebook event with friends, family, and in community groups that you know support children in our neighborhood
What is a Trunk or Treat?
Participants bring their cars to a central location and decorate their trunks for Halloween, sometimes creating elaborate scenes out of their trunks. Then kids walk from vehicle to vehicle, collecting candy/treats the way they would during a normal trick-or-treating outing.
Expectations of Trunk Hosts
- 1:30-2:15 pm Trunk hosts can arrive any time after 1:30 pm and are expected to be in place by 2:15 pm at the latest.
- Arrival-2:45 pm Car Decorating & Setup; We hope for all cars to be decorated and hosts ready to by 2:30 pm (Need ideas for decorating? http://
trunkortreat.homestead.com) - 3-4:30 pm Cheerfully hand out treats to participants of all ages
- 4:30 pm Trunk hosts can begin disassembling their trunks at 4:30 pm. We ask that trunk hosts wait until Trunk or Treat guests have dissipated before pulling out of the parking lot to prevent injuries.
What should I hand out and how much should I get?
- You may hand out individually wrapped candy or other child friendly treats. In 2023 we had 125+ participants, so we are encouraging trunk hosts to bring at least 175 items to distribute. In the past we have advertised across many local Facebook groups, flyers will be sent home with all the Covenant Nursery School/Children's Morning Out children, and we are advertising in the community. If you have extra, Halloween is less than two weeks later, so you can always add it to your Trick-or-Treating supply 🙂
- For the craft items provided by the church, we are preparing for 150-200 kiddos.
- If you choose to have a Teal Pumpkin alternative for children with allergies (ex. stickers, bubbles, bouncy balls, spider rings, etc.), please let us know and we will provide you with a teal pumpkin bag to identify your car as having a safe alternative, if you don't already have one.
What about ministries/local groups/other churches hosting trunks, can we hand out information about ongoing activities?
Yes! If you work with children, please feel free to include a flyer with upcoming activities/contact information with your treat. We would love for families to know about safe and engaging opportunities for them right here in our area.
Does filling out this form guarantee I can be a trunk host?
This form let's our staff know that you are interested in hosting a trunk and we will do our best to accommodate all requests. You will get a follow up email from Deacon Diana with more information either way.
What if I have friends or family who want to decorate a trunk?
Send them this website and if they are still interested after reading the expectations, tell them to register by 10/11/24.
