On The Holy Spirit
I don't know if you have noticed or not, but I tend to look at things differently at times. I find humor in things that probably shouldn't and notice things that most people tend not to see. One of those things is the Doxology. In the doxology that has been sung by Christians since 1674, our belief in God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit are all listed:
Praise God the source of all our gifts!
Praise Jesus Christ, whose power uplifts!
Praise the Spirit, Holy Spirit!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Whenever I sing this, I find our inability to easily describe and get our heads around the Holy Spirit interesting. What does the Holy Spirit do? Why do we have such a hard time putting that into words? What would it be like to live a life without the Holy Spirit?
These are the questions driving topic of this Sunday's(5/20) sermon for the 8:15 service. I hope to see you there!
