Children & Youth

As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.
~ Proverbs 27:17

For John Wesley, the founder of Methodism, there was no such thing as solitary "religion" and Covenant Church strives to live that out. We gather together in worship and in Christian learning so that we can help one another grow in the love of God and others. We strive to offer opportunities for growth to people of all ages. You can see some of our offerings using the age group links to the left.

Children's Sunday School

5th grade and younger

Epworth Room 23
Sundays 9:15 am - 10:00 am
Labor Day through Memorial Day

This class uses the "Living the Word" curriculum from Spirit and Truth Publishing which follows the Narrative Lectionary. Students will learn about the same Bible verses that are incorporated into weekly worship. Lessons help students engage with the Bible stories through games, skits, crafts, and more.

We are very excited about all the opportunities we have to worship, learn, and serve at Covenant; and we want you and your young people to be a part of it. We know everyone is a one-of-a-kind beloved child of God, and we all need to experience God's love in different ways.

Children's Choir

Kindergarten through Grade 6

Weekly Rehearsals:
Kingswood Building
Music Room

 Tuesdays 5:30 - 6:15 pm

The Children's Choir provides music for Sunday worship services approximately once each month from September to May. The children are taught to read rhythms and basic musical notation.

The Solfege system of sight reading is introduced. Through the choir experience, choristers learn about God, the church, the Bible, the hymnal and the church year. They also find joy in praising God through song. New singers are always welcome! Please contact Sarah Batchelor if you would like your child to participate.

Child Care

Children are welcome in worship. A changing table is available in the Babyfold room - Epworth Room 12.

Babyfold/ Nursery Care is available for children 5 and under as volunteers are available. We take the safety of your children seriously.  Therefore, we follow a program called "Safe Sanctuaries." Under this program, we require all volunteers to receive background checks required by Pennsylvania State Law, yearly training on how to prevent and spot potential abuse, and policies that minimize the risk of all our children and vulnerable adults.

Youth Group

Kingswood 4
6th-12th grade
Every other Sunday 7:00-8:30 pm
Labor Day through Memorial Day

Covenant Youth Group strives to create a place where youth feel comfortable enough with each other and their leaders to share when they are going through something, when they have questions, and when they have doubts.  They eat, play games, go on adventures, and disucss how faith plays a role in their lives.

Whether it is at our regular youth night, a service opportunity, or special event, we make it a point to welcome new people and build connections between all students.

ASP Team

Appalachia Service Project (ASP) is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that fosters human development by addressing the housing needs of Central Appalachia. Each year Covenant youth join more than 15,000 other volunteers to repair homes for almost 600 low-income families in rural areas of Central Appalachia. Our goal is to make homes warmer, safer and drier for families in need, while offering transformational experiences for families, volunteers and staff alike.
