The Communion chalice used on Sunday, December 4 was handcrafted by the late Leon (Lee) Sperow, a long-time member of Covenant. Lee was a talented jewelry maker and silversmith. He created this unique chalice with its intricately carved stem as a gift to Covenant. It is engraved with the message, “Presented to Covenant United Methodist Church in Celebration of 260 years of Methodism (1738-1998)”.
On October 2, Rev. Bob Mongold, who served Covenant as Senior Pastor from 1988 to 2004, returned to the pulpit. Bob and his wife Dianne traveled from their retirement home in Williamsburg, VA to take part in the Anniversary celebration. On Sunday, February 12, 21 scouts and leaders from Troop 512 joined the Covenant community in worship. The members participated in the worship service and then helped sort and box the Souper Bowl of Caring contributions. The troop currently has 68 scouts and 34 leaders. Three of the scouts are working toward their Eagle Award….

This period began with Covenant’s 75th Anniversary Celebration, which included the renovation of a Habitat for Humanity house in Chester as part of Covenant’s Miracles in Missions.
