It’s Stewardship Season

Giving Brings Us Closer to God

It’s the time of year when we ask folks to consider how much money they will commit to give to God next year, through the church. Part of the reason is, of course, to help us with budget planning for 2024. But it is also about encouraging one another on our faith journey.

Jesus sums up the life of faith this way: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind and with all your strength…[and] love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:30-31, NRSV). This means trusting God with everything and considering the needs of our neighbors as seriously as we consider our own. As a community of faith, we seek to encourage one another so we all can experience the fullness of life that Jesus says we can experience when we do these things.

So, this time of year, we ask: does the amount you give to God through the church demonstrate the level of trust in God that Jesus calls us to have? If not, you might be missing the reward of a deeper relationship with God. When we stretch ourselves, God meets us in the stretch.

Worship on Oct.8, 15 and 22 includes original skits and reflections from members on their giving, and we are asking for people’s commitments by October 29. If you need a pledge card, please contact the office.
