Covenant’s Longest Tenured Pastor Returns to the Pulpit
On October 2, Rev. Bob Mongold, who served Covenant as Senior Pastor from 1988 to 2004, returned to the pulpit. Bob and his wife Dianne traveled from their retirement home in Williamsburg, VA to take part in the Anniversary celebration. Bob recalled that his years at Covenant have been among the happiest of his life. He shared many memories and gave Covenant a challenge to follow the church at Philippi. Rejoice and do not be anxious! Pastor Bob declared that “it is a great time to be the church” in these tumultuous times. “What the church has to give is exactly what our culture and society needs.” He emphasized the need for Christian Education to not only teach Bible stories but how to live the Christian life. Pastor Bob also administered his first Communion since his retirement.
